Corona Heights Park
4.8 (1,585)park
Striking red chert outcrops, dirt hiking trails, and panoramic 360-degree city views define this rugged hilltop park.
Description

Each spring, a wildflower display carpets the grasslands with California poppy, Douglas iris, mule's ears, and Johnny jump-up—the host plant for the callippe silverspot butterfly—while anise swallowtails frequent the heights. A one-mile trail network navigates the hill using scattered box staircases, balanced by a steeper, loose-gravel path leading toward the 15th Street tennis courts. By the entrance near the Randall Museum, the lawn of Bill Kraus Meadow honors the prominent gay rights activist and leads along a dedicated pathway to an off-leash dog area.
