Copland at the Schnitzer, Then a Two-Step Tuesday

The Oregon Symphony plays Kahane, Still, and Copland on Sunday, Showdown Saloon runs a two-step night with a lesson on Tuesday, and Michael Lewis speaks at the Schnitzer on Thursday.

🎻 Three nights, three tempos

The Oregon Symphony opens the week at the Schnitzer, Showdown Saloon takes Tuesday with a live band and a dance lesson, and Michael Lewis returns to the Schnitzer on Thursday for a talk.

🥁 Choosing your tempo

A symphony night is a seated evening with a fixed start, and the Schnitzer rewards a seat that can see the section rather than the soloist. The two-step night is the opposite: a lesson first, then a band, and a floor that fills with people who are learning in public. The Lewis talk is a single voice on a big stage, which is closer to the symphony than to the saloon. Tuesday is the odd one out, and the one worth trying if you have never danced in public. The two Schnitzer dates share parking and a bar, and Showdown is a short drive east, so the week never needs more than one trip across the river.
