⚖️ Ideas Beyond the Exhibition

Contemporary art gets into the questions that shape public life at Anya and Andrew Shiva Gallery. This is the main gallery of John Jay College, with exhibitions exploring social justice, human rights, and the law. Take that focus into your next gallery afternoon, with a specific set of ideas to consider as you explore.

Artist talks, screenings, and performances sit alongside the exhibitions. The events address political and reconstructive themes, extending the program across visual art, conversation, and live presentation. Let a work raise a question, then follow that question through the wider program. There are several ways to engage with the ideas here.

Find it at 860 Eleventh Avenue in a building designed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill. For a weekday stop, the gallery is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Work those hours into an afternoon of looking and thinking.
