Crowned in real gold, Denver’s historic seat of government offers free tours and sweeping mountain views from its dome.
Description

Designed by architect Elijah E. Myers and opened in 1894, the neoclassical landmark houses the Colorado General Assembly and the governor's working offices. Its dome was gilded in 1908 to commemorate the state's gold rush history, and the structure holds distinction as the country's only capitol with a LEED Gold certification.
Inside, interpretive displays trace Colorado governance alongside the building's own architectural past. Visitors can navigate the corridors through self-guided walks, while families can explore the halls using an on-site scavenger hunt for kids.
