Colombian Electronic Music Fills a 1931 Supper Club

Lido Pimienta plays Bimbo's 365 Club with Chancha Via Circuito, a 21 and over show in North Beach.

🪩 A Friday in North Beach

🎧 What the Set Sounds Like

Lido Pimienta is a Colombian Canadian artist who builds electronic music on cumbia and Afro Colombian percussion, singing mostly in Spanish. Chancha Via Circuito opens with digital cumbia from Buenos Aires, working the same lineage from a different angle. Another Planet presents the night. Pimienta talks between songs as much as she sings, and the room is the point, which is unusual at this scale. Expect dancing rather than a seated listening set.

🥂 Inside the Old Room

Bimbo's has run at 1025 Columbus Avenue since 1951, and the interior keeps its supper club shape with a long curved bar, banquettes, and chandeliers. The floor in front of the stage stays open for standing. Staff check identification at the Columbus Avenue door. A 21 and over policy applies with no exceptions at this venue. Carry a physical card. Coat check and restrooms sit off the lounge behind the bar.

🚏 Getting There and Fit

Doors run ahead of an 8 in the evening start on Friday, September 18, in North Beach near Chestnut Street. The 30 and 8 buses stop within a block, and the Powell Mason cable car ends a short walk away. Parking on Columbus fills by early evening and the garages sit toward Bay Street, worth planning before you drive. It fits people who want to dance in a room with history. Anyone hoping for a quiet seated show should choose another night.
