Classic Cocktails Under a Skylight in a Checkerboard Dining Room

Order a Penicillin or old fashioned beneath hand painted murals and antique mirrors, a cozy stop for a slow night.

Order a Penicillin under the skylight at The Bar Room.

🍸 Drinks in a Painted Room

Step past the red velvet curtain and the room opens onto a black and white tile floor, green tufted booths, and hand painted murals that climb toward a glass skylight. The long bar runs dark and wood paneled, and its mirrors are etched with recipes for a ten year old fashioned and a scotch Penicillin. Order either, or point at whatever the bartender is stirring under the globe lights.

The crowd rates it 4.4 across more than 1300 visits. Come early for a quieter happy hour, or settle into a corner banquette when the chandeliers warm up after dark. Brunch fills the same tables in daylight, and the kitchen keeps plates moving for the groups that book the back at 117 East 60th Street.
