Managed by the Chicago Park District, the field keeps things strictly functional. The synthetic turf is packed with a dense layer of black rubber pellets, which can make running feel like slogging through beach sand, particularly near the touchlines. There are no permanent stands on site, so spectators routinely bring their own folding chairs to watch matches from the open sideline perimeter.
