A Free Plush Bloom at Rockefeller Center
Thousands of oversized felt flowers fill the plaza, and each visitor picks one handmade bloom to take home.
💐 A Plaza Full of Felt Flowers
From September 24 to 27, artist CJ Hendry brings her Flower Market installation back to Rockefeller Center. Thousands of oversized felt flowers spread across the plaza in dense, saturated color, and this year the blooms draw on plants that grow around New York City. Each one is hand-crafted, closer to soft sculpture than a fresh bouquet, and the whole plaza reads as a walk-through artwork. Every visitor takes a first flower home for free, and extra stems run five dollars each. Admission costs nothing. The plaza rewards visitors who arrive early rather than near closing, and same-day access shifts with on-site inventory. On Saturday, September 26, a Space Club workshop sets up on-site for hands-on art with younger visitors. Once you have your bloom, the rest of Rockefeller Center sits right there for a meal, a photo, or a slow Midtown afternoon.
