City Gates to Graveyard Fences: St. Augustine's Ghosts on Foot
A 90-minute night walk past the Castillo, the old wooden schoolhouse and two cemeteries, told as history and legend.
Destination Ghost Tours started in Savannah in 2010 and added St. Augustine in 2025, according to its own press kit. This booking lists it under the company's Savannah trade name, Haunted Savannah Tours. Ghosts of the Old City leaves the Old City Gates at 8:00 PM every night and keeps to the old streets for about 90 minutes.
The company pitches it as real places and documented history, with no actors and no jump scares. Its booking notes call the scare level light and suitable for all ages, with a warning that some stories may be spooky for very young children.

The booking covers the guided walk, exterior views of each site and the company's free digital city guide. Children 4 to 12 pay a lower ticket and kids 3 and under go free. Confirmation is instant, and online sales close three hours before the start.

The walk opens with a few minutes at the gates themselves, two coquina pillars at the north end of St. George Street. From there the booking lists the route past Castillo de San Marcos, the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse, Tolomato Cemetery, Huguenot Cemetery and Potter's Wax Museum, followed by more stops it leaves unnamed.
None of these sites are entered. The booking says outside only, and it marks the fort, the schoolhouse, Tolomato and the wax museum as no entry. The operator puts the distance at about a mile at a leisurely pace, over brick and cobblestone sidewalks.
Spooky Stories at a Conversational Pace

The operator describes the pace as easy and conversational. The listing says the walk leans on storytelling and the atmosphere of the old streets after dark, with local legends told at the landmarks along the way.
One review from August 2026 describes a guide born in St. Augustine who knew the history well but spoke softly enough to be hard to hear, and says the ghost stories began about 15 minutes in. Stand close to the guide at each stop to catch every story. The operator replied that it would use that feedback with the guide.
Be at the Gates by 7:50 PM
Meet at the Old City Gates at the north end of St. George Street, near Orange Street, where two large coquina pillars mark the entrance to the historic district. The operator's booking notes set check-in at 7:50 PM and say that once the tour departs, the group cannot wait or backtrack.
One traveler in September 2026 missed the start, blaming unclear directions. The operator replied that the guide waited at the gates for ten minutes past the start time, and that the confirmation includes a map, written and GPS directions, a phone number and an email for help. Parking is not included, and the operator says the confirmation names the nearest parking. There are no restroom stops on the route; use one before you arrive.
All Ages, Leashed Dogs, Rain or Shine
Every age can come, and each booking needs at least one adult. Travelers 13 and up pay the full ticket, children 4 to 12 a lower one, and kids 3 and under are free. The operator welcomes well-behaved dogs on a leash, and the listing allows service animals.
The operator lists wheelchairs and strollers as fine on this walk, and the listing marks the route wheelchair accessible. The sidewalks are brick and cobblestone, though. The listing also marks the tour as not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with poor cardiovascular health, a point the operator's own pages do not mention. Tours run rain or shine. Bring a jacket or umbrella to suit the forecast, comfortable shoes, and water in warmer months.
