Description

Set across two acres in historic Philadelphia, this colonial and Revolution-era graveyard holds 1,400 markers. It serves as the final resting place for Benjamin Franklin, his family, four other signers of the Declaration of Independence, and early U.S. Navy leaders such as Commodore Bainbridge, Commodore James Biddle, and Commodore Thomas Thruxton. Visitors can inspect weathered headstones, follow helpful guide maps, and take part in the tradition of tossing pennies onto Franklin's grave for good luck. The site also features candle-lit theatrical tours.
