Chowder Over the Harbor, Then a Full-Size Lobster Roll

A North End and waterfront walk with four sit-down seafood stops, Freedom Trail stories and a cannoli to close.

Boston Pizza Tours runs this as its seafood walk. A guide leads up to twelve people out of the North End, down to the harbor and back toward Faneuil Hall, with four restaurant stops where everyone sits down to eat. The listing spells out the menu: clam chowder, oysters and shrimp from a raw bar, a full-size lobster roll, and a cannoli from a North End pastry shop at the finish.

All of the food is in the ticket price; the guide's tip is the one thing that is not.

As of November 5, 2026, the booking calendar showed one departure a day at 11:00 AM on most dates, with Thanksgiving, December 24 and December 25 left off. Everyone aged 6 and up pays the same per-person price, and booking closes an hour before the start.

Paul Revere's House, North Square and Quincy Market

Between meals the walk covers the city's oldest corners. The guide passes the Paul Revere House, which the listing dates to 1680 as the oldest home in downtown Boston, then pauses in North Square for the story of the first settlers in 1630.

Later come Long Wharf, which the listing calls the oldest commercial port in the city, the Old State House with its ring of cobblestones marking the Boston Massacre, and Quincy Market, built in 1823 and a wholesale food hall for 150 years. The Paul Revere House and Faneuil Hall, from 1742, are seen from outside; the walk does not go into either. The history arrives in short pieces at each pause.

Chowder Over the Water, Oysters by Long Wharf

The seafood stops follow the waterfront. The listing puts the clam chowder, which it calls a two-time winner of Boston's ChowderFest, at a restaurant that hangs out over the harbor, then oysters and shrimp at a raw bar by Long Wharf. Lunch is the full-size lobster roll, served at a restaurant the listing calls America's oldest, open since 1826 and a National Landmark.

One reviewer in October 2024 put it bluntly: "these are NOT tasting portions, these are full portions." The cannoli comes last. The operator's own booking page also lists crab cakes for this tour, while the booking listing does not, so treat crab cakes as a maybe.

What the 165 Minutes Feel Like

The tour is listed at 165 minutes and runs in rain, shine or snow, so dress for the day. Much of that time is spent seated at four restaurants. Two three-star reviewers, in September 2025 and October 2026, said waiting in lines and for service made it feel slow, and the October one said it ran past the quoted time.

Leave a cushion after the tour before booking anything else that afternoon. The listing marks the walk wheelchair accessible and suitable for all fitness levels, while a 2025 traveler whose husband uses a wheelchair found the distance between stops long. Strollers are allowed, and public transportation is close to the start.

Group Size, Ages and the Tip

Shared groups top out at 12 travelers. The tour needs at least four people to run; if that minimum is not met, the operator offers another date or a full refund.

The booking form's age bands start at 6, and everyone from 6 up pays the same per-person price. An adult has to make the booking. Gratuity for the guide is not included, so bring something for the tip.

📍 Meet your guide downstairs at Modern Pastry Underground on Hanover Street in the North End. The listing gives 257 Hanover Street, and the operator's booking system lists the downstairs entrance at 263. Skip the pastry line, walk straight in and head down the stairs.

The listing says the walk ends back at the start, while the operator's own booking page says it finishes near the Tony DeMarco boxer statue, so plan to wrap up in the North End. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund. The last bite is a cannoli from a North End pastry shop.
