Chinese Garden Pavilions Overlook Puget Sound

Stroll through a campus retreat shaped by Seattle and Chongqing, with time to linger over stonework.

Plan a garden detour.

🌊 A Detour Above the Sound

Give your waterfront afternoon a garden detour in West Seattle. Seattle Chinese Garden sits at the north end of the South Seattle College campus, at 6000 16th Ave SW. Sichuan pavilions and intricate stonework overlook Puget Sound, trading the shoreline perspective for a view from the grounds.

Traditional Chinese garden principles shape the space, and its plantings reflect the ties between Seattle and its sister city, Chongqing. Take time with the architecture and planting together, a cultural connection woven into a peaceful campus setting. Knowing the Spring Courtyard and Song Mei Pavilion are also available for private events.

The grounds are open to the public, with free entry. The garden is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, with Mondays closed. Plan around the later weekend closing for an afternoon outdoors.
