Description

The park occupies a one-acre lot tied directly to the founding of Yorkshire Woods. Sicilian immigrant Philip Chillem purchased the tract from the Harger family and sold off the residential lots from a little lean-to where he sat on Saturdays and Sundays. In 1956, he donated this parcel to the property owners association so neighborhood families would have a dedicated gathering space once the subdivision was fully built. The ground was conveyed to the Oak Brook Park District in 1972 to add landscaping and courts, honoring the man residents remember as their community's founder.
