Chicken Alley's Ghost and Asheville's Other Legends, Played for Laughs

A 60-minute comedy ghost tour by bus, leaving from the LaZoom Room on Biltmore Avenue, for riders 17 and up.

LaZoom's Ghosted is an hour on the bus with a guide who treats Asheville's murders, hauntings and scandals as material for a comedy set. The listing promises you will laugh and you will scream. Riders mostly write about the laughing.

Every seat goes to a rider aged 17 or older, and tickets are sold per person. The bus leaves from the LaZoom Room on Biltmore Avenue.

Ghost Stories You Hear From Your Seat

Downtown Asheville is the stage, and the bus is the only seat in the house. The listing names its pass-bys: the neo-Gothic Jackson Building on its narrow lot, the Basilica of Saint Lawrence, where it says the architect Rafael Guastavino is entombed, the entrance to Chicken Alley and the 1902 bar-fight victim said to roam it, the former Battery Park Hotel, the Victorian houses of Montford and Pritchard Park. Ghosted runs 60 minutes with no stops, and every one of those places goes by your window.

The tone leans to comedy. A rider writing in September 2026 called it "the cheesiest ghost tour" and meant it as praise, and other riders write about laughing far more than jumping. The operator follows a set route. This is not a hop-on, hop-off bus.

Beer From the Bar, Nothing From Home

Drinks are part of the plan, with rules. The LaZoom Room, the bar where the tour starts, sells beer, wine, snacks and soft drinks, and beer or wine bought there can ride along. Beer and wine from home cannot, and liquor is not allowed on the bus at all. Riders 21 and over need a valid ID to drink on board. Your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome.

The listing says riders who are intoxicated, or show signs of it, can be refused, without a refund. Anyone under 17 is not allowed to board, even with a ticket, and that ticket is not refunded. Bachelor and bachelorette parties are not taken on this tour. The operator says its comedy tours need a quiet crowd that can hear the guide, and it sends those groups to its band-and-beer bus instead.

Open Windows, a Few Steps, No Restroom Stop

LaZoom runs as an open-air bus when it is 60 degrees or warmer. The operator says the windows close in cold or rain and the bus is heated in colder months. One rider, writing in October 2026 about a cold night, said the driver never offered to roll down the vinyl windows. Bring a layer anyway. Tours run rain or shine, and the operator calls one off when it judges the roads unsafe, with at least an hour's notice.

The bus is not wheelchair accessible: the doors are too narrow for a chair, and boarding takes a few steps with a handrail. The listing marks the tour as suitable for all fitness levels, and the operator's own FAQ adds those steps. The LaZoom Room and its restrooms are wheelchair accessible, and they are your last restroom stop before the hour on board. Hearing-assistive headphones are included and are reserved by calling the operator ahead.

Not Every Night, and Not Below a Headcount

As of October 25, 2026, the booking calendar showed 7:30 PM departures through Halloween week, then 7:00 PM from November through February, with a later 8:30 PM run on many Saturdays through mid-January. From March it moves back to 7:30 PM, with a 9:00 PM Saturday run from mid-March. Most dates are Fridays and Saturdays, and this tour does not run every night.

The listing says a departure with eight or fewer passengers booked is canceled at least two hours ahead, with another time or a full refund offered. The operator's own FAQ draws that line at fewer than six. Either way the notice comes by text, email or phone. Give a number you will answer that afternoon. Cancel at least 24 hours out for a full refund through this booking. The operator's direct bookings use a 48-hour line instead. Tips for the guide and driver are not included.

Reach downtown at least 30 minutes early. The operator offers no parking of its own. The lot around the LaZoom Room has 25 spaces, is not run by LaZoom, and charges three dollars an hour through ParkMobile or its kiosk. The operator's parking page also lists two lots on South Lexington Avenue at four dollars an hour, and nearby on-street parking that is paid only from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Check in inside the LaZoom Room first: the boarding pass it hands out carries your loading number, and the bus loads in that order from 15 minutes before departure. Get there early for a front seat, pick up a drink at the bar, and let the guide take it from there.
