Description

The 7.4-acre site originated from the Chicano Park Takeover on April 22, 1970, when community members launched a protest and occupation to secure a promised park rather than a California Highway Patrol station. Today, the civil rights landmark holds the country's largest concentration of Chicano murals alongside painted kiosks, sculptures, and gardens that host regular community gatherings.
