Chelsea Photography Finds a Naturally Lit Gallery
Explore emerging photographers alongside established names in a Chelsea programme that connects generations of artists.
📷 Emerging Talent, Historic Names
Yancey Richardson Gallery puts photography in a naturally lit first floor space at 525 West 22nd Street in Chelsea. Its focus stretches from contemporary to historical work, with painting, film, and lens based media alongside photography. Give each work time, then follow the programme into its other forms.
Emerging photographers share that programme with recognized artists in the middle of their careers and figures of historical significance. William Eggleston, Ed Ruscha, and August Sander are among the names in that wider circle. Look beyond the familiar names, too, and leave room for an emerging photographer to hold your attention. The thoughtfully designed interior houses carefully curated exhibitions.
The gallery has championed this field from 1995 onward. Admission is free, and doors open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Sunday and Monday are closed. An afternoon here can center on the work itself, with time to look closely instead of rushing through.
