Chelsea Galleries Open Thursday From 21st To 28th Street

Make Thursday an art afternoon, not a bet on evening receptions. This northbound Chelsea walk pairs contemporary exhibitions, photography and collectible objects, with a later finish at de Vera. Check current shows and appointment options before leaving.

Three Stops Heading North 🗺️

A Room-Scale First Look 🖼️

Begin at 303 Gallery on West 21st Street for contemporary work that changes with the exhibition programme. The gallery has occupied this Chelsea space since 2016, after earlier homes in the East Village and Soho. Its regular Thursday hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with an earlier summer closing. Look up the current show before setting out, and leave time to compare the main room with the smaller room.

Lens-Based Art Up Close 📷

Photography sets the tone at Yancey Richardson Gallery, though its programme also includes painting, film and other lens-based media. The first-floor space at 525 West 22nd Street brings natural light into the viewing experience. Regular Thursday hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and an online appointment tool makes booking ahead possible. Check the current exhibition and appointment options before visiting, rather than assuming an evening reception or unrestricted walk-in access.

Small Objects, Later Hours 💎

Finish at de Vera on West 28th Street, where jewelry, sculpture and historical objects share carefully arranged display cases. Federico de Vera's pieces bring antique elements into conversation with pearls, diamonds and coral. The gallery's regular Thursday hours run 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, later than the other two stops. Browse for the relationships between objects as well as individual details, keeping in mind that some items are for sale.
