Chastain Arts Center & Gallery
4.8 (17)gallery
Atlanta’s oldest arts center pairs contemporary gallery shows with community classes inside Chastain Park.
Description

The center is housed in former almshouses designed by Thomas Henry Morgan, built by Fulton County between 1901 and 1911 before opening as an arts center in 1968. Its teaching approach balances traditional fundamentals with individual expression across all ages and skill levels, rounded out by an annual Summer Camp, studio group rentals, and a gift shop selling rotating handmade items. In 1978, the City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs established the onsite gallery to display contemporary art by local and nationally recognized artists.
