Central Park Lake: Last Weekend to Row Under Fall Color, Through Nov 2
Row the Lake while the trees turn, then carry a beer to the Boathouse patio facing the water.
Boathouse dock to café patio
🚣 Row the Lake before the last launch
Rowboats leave the Boathouse dock daily from 10 AM on a first-come basis, at $30 an hour Friday through Sunday. The Boathouse's only posted end-of-day rule is that the last boat leaves an hour before dusk, and it publishes no separate schedule for after clocks fall back on November 1. Sunset is 5:53 PM Saturday and 4:52 PM Sunday, so ask at the dock for that day's cutoff rather than counting back from sunset. Life jackets come with every boat, riders must be at least three feet tall, and children under 12 need an adult aboard. Payment is card or contactless only.

🍺 Then a drink by the water
Several counters share the lakeside building, each with its own posted hours. The café is open daily, listed as 8 AM to 7 PM in the site footer and 8 AM to 5 PM on the dining page. Its indoor Fireside Room seating is listed mainly for weekdays, so on a weekend afternoon the café's seats are outdoors. Dockside Dining, also outdoor and first-come, runs until 8 PM Monday through Saturday and 7 PM Sunday. The site does not say whether these hours change at season's end. The June 2025 café menu lists Brooklyn Lager at $12, wine by the glass at $15 and cocktails on tap at $16, before tax.

🗓️ Time it before Nov 2
CentralPark.com lists rentals through Monday, November 2, but the Boathouse's own site gives no closing date for the season, only 10 AM to dusk, weather permitting. Call 718-973-9339 before heading out to confirm the boats are running and ask that day's last-boat time. On Saturday or Sunday, reach the dock by 2:30 PM, since rentals are first-come with no slot held for you. Food and drinks stay on shore. Enter at Fifth Avenue and East 72nd Street; the dock is about an eight-minute walk in, and the 6 train at 68 St–Hunter College is about 15 minutes away on foot.
