From Golden Hour at Pier 1 to a Skyline Dinner in DUMBO

Frame the skyline behind Pier 1's old pilings at sunset, then watch Manhattan light up over a Northern Italian dinner.

Check today's sunset time first.

🗺️ Pier 1 to Water Street

🌇 Shoot the pile field at golden hour

Walk the Pier 1 Promenade in Brooklyn Bridge Park toward the Pier 1 Pile Field, where rows of old pier pilings stand in the water in front of Lower Manhattan. Arrive about 30 minutes before sunset and check the exact time that day, as October sunsets come a little earlier every evening. Stay through the blue hour, when the towers start to glow. When Pier 1 is crowded, Main Street Park near the Manhattan Bridge offers a quieter second angle.

🍝 Dinner as the skyline lights up

Cecconi's DUMBO sits inside Empire Stores on Water Street, between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, serving Northern Italian dishes in a former warehouse. It is an upscale, splurge-worthy pick for a date or a special occasion. The outdoor terrace faces the Manhattan skyline, but terrace tables are limited. Book ahead, ask for the terrace, and expect it may not be available. Dinner runs until 10:00 PM Sunday through Wednesday and until 11:00 PM Thursday through Saturday.

🚶 Plan the walk between them

Allow about 10 to 15 minutes on foot from the Pier 1 waterfront to Water Street, and check the route in a map app before leaving. Book the table for roughly 45 minutes after sunset, leaving time to walk over once the blue hour fades. For a lighter meal, Luke's Lobster and Juliana's Pizza sit closer to the water.
