Capitol Hill's Ghost Stories, Gently Told for the Whole Family

An 8:00 PM ghost walk from Civic Center Park into Capitol Hill's Victorian streets, told with younger listeners in mind.

Ghost City Tours of Denver runs this as its all-ages ghost walk: an 8:00 PM start in Civic Center Park, then the Victorian houses of Capitol Hill. The operator's page weights the night at 60 percent history, 30 percent paranormal and 10 percent entertainment, and its one content note is death and mortality. Families describe guides trimming the darkest material for children. A September 2024 review says the information was sanitized for the pre-teens in the group, and a parent of a six-year-old wrote in August 2022 that the guide left out things too dark for kids to process.

The card below books the 8:00 PM departure. The listing sells three ticket bands, adults from age 12, youths 6 to 11 and children 5 and under, and every traveler needs a ticket, the youngest included. Each booking takes up to ten people with at least one adult, and the listing points groups of ten or more to the operator's group sales coordinator.

Which Houses the Booking Page Puts on the Route

The listing starts in Civic Center Park with the history of Denver's city hall. From there it names the house J.J. and Molly Brown bought after the silver crash of 1893, the Patterson Inn, the house where, by the listing's account, hauntings began almost as soon as the Whitehead family moved in, a mansion the guide covers for its architecture as much as its stories, and the late Victorian Byers-Evans House. One stop is a Victorian house the listing calls the only manor of its kind that is not haunted, with stories told about the intersection around it. The operator says not all stops are guaranteed on all nights. Its own page features four of them: the Byers-Evans House, dated 1883, the Molly Brown House and the Peabody-Whitehead Mansion, both 1889, and the Croke-Patterson Mansion, 1891.

What the Walk Asks of Small Legs

The operator rates the pace leisurely, puts the distance at about a mile and says there are chances to sit and listen along the way. The listing and the operator both mark the walk wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly. A parent writing in 2022 still told others to come prepared for a workout. An August 2026 review sums up the rhythm: walk, stop, and talk about a building, what is inside it and whether a ghost might be there too. Civic Center Conservancy says the park currently has no restrooms while the McNichols Building is under construction and points visitors to the Denver Public Library, but the Central Library closes at 6 PM Monday to Thursday and at 5 PM Friday to Sunday, before the 8:00 PM start.

Construction Fencing Lines the Park's 14th Avenue Side

The operator sets the meeting point at the Civic Center Park Archway Entrance, 101 W 14th Avenue, across from the Library and Art Museum. Denver's landmark staff file the Greek Theater under 101 West 14th Avenue Parkway, and Denver Parks and Recreation has closed the Greek Theater area and the central promenade for the Civic Center Next 100 renovation, which began on November 19, 2025 and is scheduled to finish in late 2027. The city's fencing map runs the work zone out to the 14th Avenue curb, while the Broadway Terrace, the area around the Voorhies Memorial and the Great Lawn stay open. The operator asks guests to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early and recommends a rideshare or pedicab over hunting for street parking. Finding the start has tripped people up: a family in August 2026 was given a wrong location, a 2023 reviewer found the directions pointing to two spots a quarter mile apart, and in October 2024 a festival moved the meeting point outside the park, with the company calling ahead. The operator says its confirmation email includes a map, directions, parking notes and photos of the meeting point. Have those directions open before setting out.

The Operator's Calendar Ends Earlier

The listing sells the 8:00 PM walk every night through November 28, 2026. As of October 21, 2026, the operator's own booking calendar runs only through November 9, and its FAQ describes the season as March through early November. Pick a night on or before November 9. The walk goes ahead rain or shine, and the operator says it will contact guests about rescheduling in severe weather. Gratuities are not included. The operator welcomes leashed, well-behaved pets, the listing names service animals, and the operator does not allow guests to bring alcoholic drinks.

Booked through this listing, the ticket refunds in full when cancelled at least 24 hours before the start, and the listing lets the operator cancel for bad weather or too few travelers. The operator puts the finish around 9:30 PM, and the listing's end point is on Pennsylvania Street by the Molly Brown House, a walk away from the park where it began. RTD's Route 15 heads back west from Colfax and Pennsylvania, just north of the finish. RTD's current schedule runs it about every 15 minutes until around midnight, every night, past the park's Colfax and Broadway stop and on to Union Station. A family of five with children aged eight and six wrote in June 2024 that their guide walked them back to their car at the end of the night.
