Brooklyn's Central Library Lends Craft Tools for Free

Borrow craft tools and kits with an adult card, then work on them inside a 1941 Art Moderne landmark at the plaza.

Plan your library visit.

🧵 Borrow Before You Buy

The Central Library lends craft tools the way it lends books, which lets you test a project before you commit a shelf of equipment to it. An adult card covers the loan, kits go out for roughly three weeks, and single tools come back in one.

The building earns the trip on its own. It sits at Grand Army Plaza with Prospect Park next door, and the interior stays calm even when the branch is busy. The Commons carries the workshops, with music production sessions and craft programs sharing the same floor.

Hours run late on weekdays and short on Sunday, so check the door before you haul a machine across the borough. Entry is free, and no reservation is needed to walk in and ask at the desk.
