Nene's Deli Taqueria folds Brooklyn birria tacos into an everyday grocery at 14 Starr Street, with slow cooked Puebla birria and handmade tortillas behind the counter. Chef Andrés draws on family recipes passed down through generations.
Start with the Nenes Combo, three crispy birria tacos with melted cheese, fresh cilantro and onion, served with consommé for dipping. The Nenes Deluxe mixes one taco, one mulita and one empanada. For a shared order, the birria pizza arrives as a quesadilla pie built to split. Mango sauce is among the dips, and a Mexican soda rounds out the meal.
Service at the counter is prompt, and there are a few counter seats inside the grocery space for eating on the spot. Prices stay inexpensive. The deli opens at 11 AM daily, closing at 11 PM Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
