Broadway From an Open-Air Deck, With a Moonshine Stop Included

An open-air bus works the honky-tonk blocks for one hour and forty-five minutes, with a host aboard and one distillery stop.

Ride an open-air deck down Broadway.

A school bus with the roof cut off and a wooden deck laid over the seats. You ride standing at a waist-high rail, above the car roofs and level with the neon on Lower Broadway. The route stays inside downtown Nashville and the whole thing takes one hour and forty-five minutes.

The seat is what you buy here, and twenty-five people share the deck.

Two blocks of departures carry different prices. The morning bus pushes off between 10:00 AM and 11:20 AM at USD 25 a person, and everything from noon onward, out to a last start at 9:05 PM, is USD 38. Both run the same hour and forty-five minutes, every day of the week.

What Comes With the Deck

The dance floor lights up from underneath. A premium sound system runs the length of the deck, and an onboard host handles the music, takes the photos and keeps things moving. Ice, cups and coolers are stocked before you climb up.

A tinted roof pulls across the deck for sun or rain, and the neon lighting is there for the night departures. The operator runs rain or shine. When severe weather forces them to cancel, the notice comes from them and the refund is full.

The Stop at Ole Smoky, and What Is in Your Cup

The bus pulls over once. Fifteen minutes at Ole Smoky Distillery, and the Tennessee moonshine shot there is already inside the ticket price. Their counter also carries fifteen locally brewed beers and local seltzers if you want more than the shot.

The bus is not BYOB. Whatever you drink on the deck comes from the package store at the departure bar, which stocks:

  • beer, seltzers and soft drinks
  • non-alcoholic beer
  • THC drinks

Alcohol and gratuities sit outside the ticket price. Bring cash for the second.

Come an Hour Before the Bus Moves

Boarding is at Honky Tonk Hideaway and Cantina on Lewis Street, off the Broadway strip the bus later drives down. The operator asks you to arrive one full hour before your departure time. Check-in happens there, and the hour is meant to be spent inside.

The room holds a full bar, a kitchen, painted walls and a mechanical bull. The bus loads and unloads at the same address, so the walk back at the end is the one you already know.

Who the Deck Is Built For

Twenty-one and over, checked at the door with no exception. Valid photo identification is required, and passports, driver's licences, military identification and paper identification are all accepted.

The listing calls it suitable for all physical fitness levels. It is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health, spinal injuries, or for anyone who is pregnant. The operator says it can arrange accessibility options for the bus on request. English is the language on board.

Booking closes twenty-four hours before the departure time, and that same twenty-four hours is the window for a full refund. Confirmation arrives instantly and the operator confirms it a second time. A mobile ticket is enough at the door, and a printed one is accepted.

Departure times shift with downtown traffic. Sunscreen earns its place in the afternoon slots, and the last bus of the day pushes off at 9:05 PM, which puts you back on Lewis Street with Broadway still going.
