Bring Your Ex's Stuff to Sheep Meadow and Swap It With Strangers

A grassroots trade on Central Park's big lawn: carry over what an ex left behind, leave with someone else's, then warm up on Columbus Avenue.

Pack one thing and go swap it.

🗺️ Sheep Meadow to Muffins Cafe

🧺 A lawn full of other people's leftovers

The EX-change is a grassroots swap posted on Partiful, not a park program. On Sunday, November 8 at 2 PM, people meet on Sheep Meadow with things an ex left behind and trade them with strangers. The rules are short: everyone is welcome, single, taken or in between, everything offered must be free, and only people who bring something take something. The host lists November 15 at 2 PM as the backup date if the lawn is too wet or rainy. RSVP on the Partiful page, where 137 people had marked going by Nov 3.

☕ Hot cider a short walk west

Muffins Cafe, a pint-sized counter with seating at 222 Columbus Avenue between 70th and 71st Streets, has served the Upper West Side since 1993. Its menu lists hot chocolate at $4.50 small or $6 large, seasonal hot cider at the same prices, and soup made daily from September through April at $7.50, with sales tax included. On Sundays the cafe closes at 6 PM, which leaves an hour or two to sit down after the swap and look over whatever you carried out of the park.
