Bricktown's Canal Carries You Through the Land Run Monument

Downtown Oklahoma City narrated by the person steering the boat, on a canal that runs through a monument.

Ride the Bricktown Canal past the Land Run Monument.

The canal cuts a loop through the middle of a downtown entertainment district, and the boat that works it goes out and comes back without letting anyone off. That is the whole shape of the ride. Every landmark the guide names is seen from the water, never stepped on.

The person steering is also the person talking. Bricktown Water Taxi calls them Ambassadors, and on the booking page the narration is the one thing listed as included.

Departures leave from a single dock in the heart of Bricktown. In summer they go every fifteen to twenty minutes, and outside summer that interval stretches with the weather and the demand.

Tickets are sold at the booth on the day, though the operator warns that immediate seating is not guaranteed to walk-ups and that departures often reach capacity well in advance.

What the Boat Passes, and Where It Turns Around

South of the dock the canal threads through the Centennial Land Run Monument, where oversized horse-and-rider sculptures stand in and beside the water. The canal runs between the sculptures; the boat goes through the monument itself.

The guide also names Chickasaw Plaza, a run of sculptural and interpretive markers that the operator says covers more than ten thousand years of indigenous history, and the Harkins Bricktown 16, a sixteen-screen cinema on the canal. The turn comes at the entrance to Riversport, the whitewater park at the far end of the route, and from there the boat retraces the canal back to the dock.

An Open Boat, and What You Can Bring Onto It

The boats are open-sided under a fabric canopy, and the canal runs a level below the street, which decides how much shade and breeze reaches you at any given hour. The operator notes that on warm days the deck can be hot to the touch.

Snacks and drinks are welcome aboard, and the booth sells cold water and soda. Glass bottles are not allowed anywhere on the Bricktown Canal. Move anything you are carrying into something else before you board.

How Long It Actually Takes

Two numbers are in circulation and they do not agree. The booking page fixes the ride at fifty minutes. Bricktown Water Taxi's own FAQ puts a round trip at forty to forty-five. Block out the longer figure and expect the shorter one.

Booking closes one hour before departure and confirmation is instant, which leaves room for a same-morning decision as long as you are more than sixty minutes out.

Who Rides, and What the Listing Leaves Open

All ages ride, with separate fares for children, youths, adults and seniors, and the operator requires minors to be with an adult. The booking page's own checklist adds that infants travel on a lap. Service animals are welcome aboard; other pets are not, which the operator puts down to close quarters on deck.

That same checklist marks the boat, the transport and the surfaces as wheelchair accessible. Bricktown Water Taxi's own site does not mention wheelchairs, ramps or strollers anywhere; the claim rests on the listing alone. The operator publishes a phone line on its contact page, and that is where to settle an access question before you pay.

📍 The ticket booth stands at 111 S. Mickey Mantle Drive, at street level, with the dock directly below it. Every regular-service departure leaves and lands there.

  • Cancellation: a full refund up to twenty-four hours before departure. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable.
  • Weather: high wind and a full rainout are the stated reasons a sailing gets called off, and a trip cancelled by the operator can be rebooked or refunded.
  • Parking: there is no dedicated lot. Bricktown has meters, surface lots and garages within a short walk.

The boat returns to the dock it left from, which puts you back on foot in the middle of Bricktown.
