Breakfast Ramen at a Six-Seat East Village Counter

A six-seat morning counter where Chef Rasheeda Purdie turns ramen into a Southern breakfast ritual.

Plan your Ramen by Ra visit.

🍜 Breakfast ramen, counter-served

Chef Rasheeda Purdie built Ramen by Ra as the country's first Black woman-owned ramen shop, and the East Village counter still runs on craft and quiet. There are only six places inside, four counter seats and two small table spots, with bowls pre-ordered and served within minutes of arrival. The menu leans Southern and morning-minded, with lox and egg drop ramen that reads like breakfast reimagined in broth. A window service keeps things moving for anyone without a seat, pouring broth cups and folding breakfast bao inspired by the city's coffee-and-bagel mornings. Reservations go quickly, and the room seats a handful at a time, a place to plan around rather than wander into. The kitchen keeps hours Wednesday through Sunday, 9am to 5pm, a mid-priced counter where the ritual matters as much as the noodles.
