Description
Designed by William C. Frohne and completed in 1896, this five-story Renaissance Revival building is a rare survivor of the social halls built for New York's immigrant communities. For over a century it has anchored Czech and Slovak culture, hosting lectures, films, concerts, and fine arts exhibitions. The space has also served as a community focal point, offering ethnic food and Czech language and history classes. Recent visitors have praised its art fairs, with three floors of 18th- and 20th-century works, and well-organized evening events.
