Belongó, formerly the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, was founded in 2007 by Arturo O’Farrill. This Grammy-winning orchestra is dedicated to the performance, education, and preservation of Afro Latin jazz, and operates as a non-profit organization and educational institution based at El Barrio ArtSpace - PS109. A reviewer who caught them at Birdland Jazz Club found them "PHENOMENAL," praising their sound as "A M A Z I N G" and noting how "very well put together" the performance was.
