This Bed-Stuy playground puts a public running track beside modern play areas. Jesse Owens Playground, at 125 Stuyvesant Ave in Brooklyn, is a compact neighborhood hub known for well-maintained grounds and an active local crowd, and the track suits beginner sprints.
A basketball court adds another way to work up a sweat, while shaded seating gives parents and spectators a place to pause. Splash fountains cover the water play, and families with toddlers favor the shallow baby pool, a low-depth option separate from the standard spray area.
Named for the 20th-century track icon, the park also draws summer birthday gatherings thanks to its open layout. The park is open from 6 AM to 9 PM every day, early enough for a morning workout on the track and late enough for an after-dinner lap with the whole crew.
