Description

Part of the U.S. Botanic Garden campus since 1932, the grounds center on Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi’s 30-foot Fountain of Light and Water. Redesigned as a Sustainable SITES Initiative pilot project, the landscape integrates native Mid-Atlantic species and seasonal beds. Visitors encounter ten rain gardens and benches crafted from storm-fallen white oak, alongside an urban kitchen garden demonstrating food cultivation in compact city spaces.
