Austin Dates for Lakeside Wanders, Stagecraft, and Brisket

Build a date around open-air wandering, seated performances, and an indoor concert meal. Start with room to roam, then choose regional theater or close-up music, with a smoked-meat finish for a slower Austin evening.

Park, Stages, and Brisket

After-Dark Parkland Pause

Zilker Park sits beside Lady Bird Lake and spans 350 acres. That scale gives a date room to breathe, with kayakers and volleyball players sharing the grounds. The 5.5-mile waterfront trail loop connects with local pathways.

The park stays open until 10:00 PM daily, and entry is free. Watch for cyclists on shared paths where construction is active, then drift toward the spring-fed Barton Springs Pool or the Beverly S. Sheffield Hillside Theater.

Barbecue Under the Lights

Stubb's Bar-B-Q in downtown Austin places live concerts and night shows beside a rustic dining room. The indoor setting keeps performers close to the audience, while the kitchen serves smoked beef brisket, mac and cheese, creamed spinach, and homemade bread. Regular hours run 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM Sunday through Wednesday and until 10:00 PM Thursday through Saturday. Sunday Gospel Brunch costs 45 dollars, with table seating near the stage adding 5 dollars.
