Description
This space is rooted in the history of a family from nearby North Sixth Street, where the Ascenzi brothers—Fred, Charles, Joseph, and William—lived before leaving for World War I. Only Fred and Charles returned; Joseph was killed in July 1918, and William's death was confirmed that October. At the urging of local veterans who also named their American Legion Post after the brothers, the triangle was dedicated in 1939 to preserve their memory in the neighborhood.
