An Uptown Honky-Tonk Where Live Country Still Plays
Two-step to live bands, order a cold beer and a hot dog, and close out a long night in Uptown Chicago.
🎸 Where the Bands Play Late
Carol's Pub has anchored the same Uptown block on North Clark since the early 1970s, a honky-tonk lined with Old Style signs, Tiffany beer lamps, and framed photos going back decades. Bands set up most nights and the floor fills with two-steppers and line dancers.
The drinks stay cheap and the kitchen sends out classic hot dogs and hand-cut fries between sets. On a busy night the crowd runs from longtime regulars to first-timers who wandered in for the karaoke and stayed for the band. Reviewers rate it 4.6 across more than seven hundred visits. It sits a short walk from the Wilson Red Line, which keeps the night going long past last call elsewhere.
