An Early Ghost Hunt Through Ybor City's Old Cigar Blocks

Two hours of ghost hunting through Ybor City's old cigar blocks, from a bar on North 15th Street. This is the operator's early run.

Ybor City grew up around cigar factories, and this walk passes the original one, which the operator says Vicente Martinez Ybor owned himself. SpookEasy Tours puts ghost-hunting equipment in every guest's hands and runs the walk from its own bar on North 15th Street.

The 6:30 PM departure is the operator's early run, and it is the one on this listing with a youth ticket. The operator's own calendar labels it all ages and keeps a separate adults-only tour at 9:00 PM. Anyone bringing a younger guest should read the note on the bar's evening rule in the first section.

The price covers the guide, the two hours and the equipment. Tickets are mobile, confirm instantly and stay on sale until the 6:30 PM start. As of October 21, 2026, the booking page listed adult tickets at USD 35 and youth tickets at USD 33. Food and drinks at the two bars on the route go on your own tab.

The Early Run, and the Bar's Evening Rule

Every booking needs at least one adult. The listing sells an adult ticket and a youth ticket, and the booking page shows the age range for each.

The walk starts and ends at SpookEasy Lounge, the operator's home base at 1909 N 15th St, with about 30 minutes inside. The lounge's own FAQ welcomes well-behaved children during the day and says the room is adults-only after 7:00 PM. The operator's calendar still lists this 6:30 PM run, which finishes there around 8:30 PM, as all ages, and neither the listing nor the lounge site says how the evening rule applies to guests on the tour. Reviews from 2024 and 2025 describe parents bringing a son or a daughter on the walk, and none of them mentions a problem at the bar. Families can confirm the lounge portion with the bar at 813-373-6452 before booking.

The lounge also asks that no outside food or drinks come in.

A Kava Bar, a Meadery and the Old Cigar Blocks

Most of the evening happens outdoors. About 70 of the 120 minutes go to walking the historic district. The stops named for that stretch are the original cigar factory, José Martí Park and what the listing calls the old Baptist church gravesite. The José Martí memorial, a tribute to a man the listing credits with a great role in the fight for a free Cuba, is a pass-by.

Two stops are indoors. About 20 minutes go to Cigar City Cider and Mead at 1812 N 15th St, a building the operator says Teddy Roosevelt once walked through, and about 30 go to SpookEasy Lounge itself. Both sell drinks, and guests can keep using the equipment inside.

How the Equipment Part Works

Ghost-hunting equipment is included and handed out at the start. A guest in November 2024 listed an EMF detector, a thermo reader, a pendulum and dowsing rods, and wrote that each person picks one and can switch during the walk.

The rhythm is story first, then search. A guest in April 2026 described the guide talking through each building and then giving the group ten or more minutes to investigate it with the devices.

The stories lean on the neighborhood's darker past. Reviewers mention Mafia tales and old crimes from Ybor's history. Reviews from 2023 through 2026 keep naming the same guide, Nikki, though the listing does not say who leads a given night. Skeptics come too: one 2023 guest said they still did not believe in ghosts afterward and enjoyed the history anyway.

What to Know Before 6:30

  • Departures run Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6:30 PM. As of October 21, 2026, the booking calendar showed Halloween, Saturday, October 31, open and Thursday, October 22, closed.
  • A full refund needs at least 24 hours' notice before the start, and inside 24 hours there is none.
  • The listing lets the operator cancel for bad weather or too few travelers.
  • The tour is shared. The listing caps a departure at 25 and says other groups may join. Guests in 2023 and 2024 wrote that their night ended up being just their own pair.
  • The listing warns of a lot of walking on older streets, some of them cobblestone, and does not recommend the tour for travelers with poor heart health. It also ticks wheelchair and stroller boxes even though it sells no infant or child ticket, and the operator's own pages say nothing about access. Anyone using a wheelchair should call the lounge at 813-373-6452 before booking.
  • Parking is extra. The City of Tampa's rate page, updated October 19, 2026, lists its Centro Ybor and Palm Avenue garages at 2 dollars an hour with a 14-dollar daily cap, and a 15-dollar flat rate after 6:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. The lounge says some Ybor lots start at about a dollar an hour.

📍 Meet under the SpookEasy Lounge sign out front at 1909 N 15th St. The guide meets the group at the entrance at departure time, so arrive a little early.

The walk ends back at the lounge around 8:30 PM, and the rest of the evening is free for dinner in Ybor.
