Old Town opened in 1892, and the room still wears its original fittings, a long carved bar, sixteen-foot pressed-tin ceilings, and a mosaic floor worn smooth by regulars. Two hand-operated dumbwaiters run food down from the upstairs kitchen to the bar, a system that has outlasted most of the neighborhood. Burgers arrive on paper plates alongside a proper Reuben, and the beer list stays short and cold rather than clever. A quieter dining room sits up the stairs beneath more stamped tin, and the marble urinals downstairs date to 1910. The bar runs from lunch into the late evening.
