After-Dark Tech Art at Two Downtown Manhattan Museums

Two downtown Manhattan museums built for the evening. Museum of Illusions runs late on weekends, and Mercer Labs holds its longer hours Thursday through Sunday, turning one trip into projections, holograms, and hands-on illusion rooms.

Museum of Illusions
Mon – Thu, 10:00 – 22:00; Fri – Sun, 10:00 – 23:00
4.4 (13,935)
77 8th Ave

Evenings are the calmer window for the optical-illusion rooms, holograms, and tilted galleries. Weekend hours run late, and staff help stage each photo across the interactive setups. Expect a little over an hour of perception puzzles that reward a slower, after-dark walk-through.

Mercer Labs
Mon – Wed, 10:00 – 20:00; Thu – Sun, 10:00 – 22:00
4.0 (2,514)
21 Dey Street

Later hours Thursday through Sunday ease the pace across fifteen rooms of 360-degree projections, LED holograms, robotic art, and spatial audio. A short orientation sets the rules, then adults and kids move through the sensory setups together.
