Description

The 0.12-acre site is linked to the founding of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in 1808. The congregation was established by members of the First Baptist Church who opposed racially segregated seating, led by a small party of seamen from Abyssinia (present-day Ethiopia). Today, the space serves the community as a highly rated local playground.
