Bannock Street Art Survey

Clyfford Still Museum follows the American abstract expressionist's work from 1920 to 1980. Paintings are arranged chronologically across two levels of daylight-lit galleries, with biographical display cases alongside them. The Allied Works Architecture building uses poured-in-place concrete, leaving its textures part of the presentation. The collection spans more than 3,000 works, though only a small fraction is displayed at once. Adults pay 15 dollars, while visitors 17 and under enter free.

Delaware Street Showroom

Abend Gallery displays original paintings and prints by emerging and established artists. Founded in 1990, it presents rotating exhibitions with works available for purchase. Opening hours are 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. The space has wood floors, exposed ceiling beams and framed paintings on white walls. Curated exhibitions regularly host receptions with refreshments. A visit adds a commercial gallery to the afternoon's museum viewing.

Institutional Preservation Meets Independent Sales

Clyfford Still Museum offers a focused study of one painter's lifetime work, arranging paintings chronologically across two daylight-lit gallery levels. Abend Gallery shifts the emphasis toward rotating original paintings and prints, with works available for purchase and receptions that include refreshments. Their distinct roles make the pairing a comparison between public preservation and private acquisition. The museum's concrete architecture frames a historical collection, while the gallery's changing displays connect Denver's art afternoon to current commercial presentation.
