A Seven Week Improv Course Ends On Stage
A seven week improv scenework course at Just The Funny that finishes with a live student show.
🎙️ Thursday Nights in Class
🤝 What Scenework Means
Improv Acting 1 is the entry course at Just The Funny Theater and Training Center, and it runs seven Thursday evenings. Scenework is the two person craft underneath every improv form, built on listening, agreement, and playing the top of your intelligence. Instructors work in short exercises rather than long lectures. The course ends with a live student performance on the theater stage, which changes how the last three weeks feel. No prior stage experience is assumed.
🪑 In the Training Room
Class meets on the second floor above the theater, and the room clears to open floor with chairs around the edge. Everyone works standing, in pairs, rotating through scenes while the rest watch and take notes. Instructors stop scenes mid line to reset a choice and run it again. Watching your classmates fail a scene teaches more than nailing your own, which is why the sideline chairs stay full. Sessions run about two hours with a short break.
📍 Signing Up and Fit
The Thursday session starts at half past seven on September 17, at 3119 Coral Way on the second floor. Street parking runs along Coral Way with residential blocks just behind it. Registration goes through Just The Funny rather than at the door on the night, worth handling in advance. It fits people who want a weekly commitment, a fixed group, and a stage date at the end. Anyone looking for a single drop in night should book a show ticket instead.
