A Queer Basement Bar with Velvet Couches in West Town
Dance to pop or settle into a lesbian and sapphic community lounge below Chicago Avenue.
🛋️ Downstairs at Dorothy
Dorothy takes the evening downstairs in West Town, at 2500 W Chicago Ave, lower level. Rich red wood paneling, art deco wallpaper, potted plants and plush velvet couches give this neighborhood basement bar its lounge setting. Settle into the seating and take a beat before joining the rest of the room.
This is a community space for lesbians, sapphics and queer crowds, with a program that spans drag, burlesque and pop music dance parties. Karaoke nights add another way to get involved, and a photo booth offers an extra stop during the evening. Lounging and performance share the same subterranean address.
Dorothy opens Sunday through Thursday from 6 PM to 11 PM, while Friday and Saturday run from 6 PM to 2 AM. The bar is for ages 21 and over. Plan around that later weekend finish when choosing between an early lounge evening and a longer night downstairs.
