A Painted Church Ceiling in Denver Becomes a Projection Screen

A guided meditation and light show mapped onto Okuda San Miguel's ceiling mural, inside a church you can stay in between shows.

Catch a projection show under the painted church ceiling.

The sanctuary at 400 South Logan Street keeps its arches, its pews and its tall gothic window. Everything above that is painted. Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel covered the vaulted ceiling in triangles of color and set two winged figures on the wall behind the altar.

BEYOND uses that ceiling as a screen. Projectors map light across the painted geometry while a recorded voice runs a guided meditation underneath. The mural is doing half the work, and the room reads differently again once the house lights come back up.

Shows begin at :20 past the hour, every hour the building is open.

The ticket is a day pass, and the show is the short part of it. Entry also covers the retro arcade lounge, the art gallery, the movie theater and the Gandhi Garden. The venue puts an average visit at 60 to 75 minutes.

This ticket holds 4.8 from 1,010 reviews. Photography runs in two stages: one prompted moment during the show, then as much as you want once the lights come up. Anything shot inside is for personal use only.

The Arcade Fills the Twenty Minutes

The venue's own advice is to turn up around the top of the hour. That leaves roughly twenty minutes before the meditation starts, and the lounge is built to absorb them.

Emulators carry more than ten thousand games. Those and the skee ball run on free play. There are vintage cabinets for Galaga, Centipede and Super Off Road, board games on the tables, ping pong, and a movie theater at the back that puts Mario Kart on a twenty-six foot screen.

Running late is survivable. The next showing starts at :20 past the following hour, and the day pass covers the wait. eileenbcnk wrote in August 2024: "Plan to arrive early or stay after the light show to enjoy the free games and the cute outdoor terrace."

Thirteen Thousand Square Feet of Oddities

The building is a century-old church running to thirteen thousand square feet, and the conversion left the shell intact. Kenny Scharf painted the facade. The first artwork reaches you before you open the door.

Mid-century modern furniture stands where pews used to, alongside vintage arcade cabinets and a spread of Americana the venue files under oddities.

An art gallery runs off the lounge and there is a gift shop by the front desk. The installations rotate, and a second visit lands on different work.

Outside food and drink stay outside. Soft drinks, water and snacks are sold on site.

Non-Consumption Hours, All Ages Welcome

The venue is the International Church of Cannabis. The nonprofit that runs it, Elevation Ministries, is a registered 501(c)(3) in Denver. BEYOND hours are listed as non-consumption and family friendly, which catches some visitors by surprise.

All ages are welcome at the show. Strollers are fine, service animals are allowed, the building is dog friendly, and the listing marks it suitable for all fitness levels.

One adult has to be on the booking, and a single reservation can carry up to thirty people.

What Happens After You Book

Confirmation is instant. Mobile and paper tickets both scan, one per booking, and the booking window closes an hour before the venue does.

Neither the platform nor the venue refunds a ticket. The venue's own policy is that a ticket is valid for any showtime during regular hours, whichever channel sold it, which turns a missed slot into a later one.

Cash, card and Apple Pay all work at the front desk for anyone buying on arrival. Buying ahead skips the line.
