🎄 Hand-Painted, One at a Time

👜 What's on the Tables

The crafted edition tips the balance toward makers rather than vintage dealers. Hand-painted glass, ceramics, knitwear and small ornaments fill the tables, much of it made for the season ahead. Nearly everything is produced in small runs by the person standing behind the table, which is a different transaction from buying a brand. Vintage dealers still work the indoor rooms, and both halves of the market run side by side.

🍂 How Sundays Run

You come in off West 77th Street into a market that rewards slow looking. Makers are happy to explain process, and several work on pieces at their stalls through the morning. The fragile tables draw a crowd early. Ask a maker about a piece and you often end up with a commission conversation, which is how a lot of the regulars shop here. Cash moves faster than cards.

📍 Getting There

The market runs on Sunday, October 11 at 100 West 77th Street, minutes from the 79th Street stop on the 1. Admission is free. Hand-painted glass needs wrapping, and vendors do not always have spare tissue. Bring something padded. It fits people who want to buy directly from the person who made the thing, rather than from a shelf. If you wanted speed and selection, this is not that.
