A Lore Supreme by Christopher Joshua Benton at Faena Beach

Partially embedded in the sand at Faena Beach, Christopher Joshua Benton's kinetic mirrored sphere towers 27 feet into the sky and spans 44 feet across. More than 7,000 mirrored facets move with the wind to create the appearance of a giant spinning disco ball. The sculpture's re-imagined geography reflects the countries that have contributed to Miami's cultural landscape, with central connections to Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Throughout the day, the installation transforms between a sculpture, public plaza, and temporary concert venue celebrating diasporic dance music.
