The cruise puts him on a boat with a rotating group of former teammates and broadcast colleagues. 🛥 What three hours on the lake looks like
The boat leaves from the Navy Pier docks and runs a loop out past the Chicago Harbor Lighthouse and back along the downtown shoreline. Sunset on September 20 lands around 6:50 PM, so the skyline lights come up roughly an hour into the sailing. The upper deck is open air and gets genuinely cold once the sun drops, even in September.

Boarding opens before the 6:00 PM departure and the boat does not wait. Navy Pier's east garage fills up on Sunday evenings, and the Grand Avenue Red Line stop plus the free trolley is the more reliable approach. Bring a layer for the upper deck and flat shoes. The gangway and deck stairs are steep and often wet.
