A Free Autry Pow Wow with a 1 p.m. Grand Entry
A free all-day powwow on the Autry Museum lawn in Griffith Park, where Grand Entry at 1 p.m. brings dancers and drummers together.
🎪 The Pow Wow on the South Lawn
🍂 Native Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month, and the Sacred Path x The Autry Pow Wow takes over the museum's South Lawn on Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Autry describes the gathering as a new partnership with Sacred Path Indigenous Wellness Center. Admission is free and open to the public, with vendor booths sharing Native arts, crafts, and food including Indian tacos and fry bread from the morning on.
🥁 Grand Entry & Arena
Grand Entry at 1 p.m. is the central moment to gather around the arena, as dancers in traditional regalia enter together behind the flags. Northern- and Southern-style drummers and singers lead the intertribal dancing through the afternoon. To show respect for the community gathering: don't take close-up photos without permission, don't touch dancers' regalia, don't drink alcohol, and stand quietly during prayers and flag songs.
🌄 Griffith Park Morning
Before Grand Entry, spend the morning walking Griffith Park's nearby trails, returning to the lawn by 1 p.m. Free parking is provided for Autry visitors at 4700 Western Heritage Way, though spaces on event day fill quickly and are not guaranteed. Metro Local Line 296 stops at the Autry northbound from Union Station and at the L.A. Zoo southbound from Burbank. With sunset at 4:55 p.m., finish outdoor walks before dark.
