The Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House opened in 2009 as the centerpiece of the AT&T Performing Arts Center in the Dallas Arts District. Norman Foster's firm wrapped a drum-shaped auditorium in deep red glass and set it beneath a broad steel canopy that shades the plaza through Texas afternoons.
Inside, a horseshoe hall seats roughly 2,200 across tiers that curve close to the stage, and a cascade of acrylic rods forms the lobby chandelier overhead. The Dallas Opera and Texas Ballet Theater perform here, along with touring Broadway runs and concerts through the season.
