A Floating Tiki Bar That Sails with the Sunset

The boat is a thatched bar on pontoons, the drinks are the ones you carried aboard, and the hour it leaves shifts every few weeks to stay with the sunset.

Catch the sunset on a floating tiki bar.

Fort Myers Beach has no shortage of boats that will take you out for the sunset. This one is built as a bar.

The deck is a square counter ringed with stools, a thatched roof overhead, plastic leis strung from the rafters and a cooler someone has already filled with ice. What it does not carry is a bartender. You bring the drinks, the crew brings the boat, and for two hours the bay does the rest.

Departures leave from the mainland stretch of San Carlos Boulevard, across the water from the beach itself. Tickets are timed, and on most dates the time you book is the only sailing running.

The Sailing Time Moves Through the Year

There is usually one sailing a day on this boat, and the hour is set by the season. Through October 2026 it pushes off at 5:30pm. From the start of November it drops back to 4:00pm and stays there into the new year. By April it has slid out to 6:30pm, where it sits all summer.

The booking page lists five possible departure times, and on almost every date only one of them is actually running. The other four come back marked unavailable. Most of that is the seasonal schedule showing through the calendar, though a handful of dates carry nothing at all.

So you do not really pick a departure time here. The month picks it, and the operator has already walked the boat forward or back to meet the sun.

Be There Thirty Minutes Early

Thirty minutes before departure is the number to plan around. The operator repeats it on its FAQ, in its how-it-works steps, on the booking page and twice inside its own reservation record.

Arrive later than that and the operator can refuse boarding, with no refund. Its own reservation record states that penalty, so treat the half hour as the hard edge rather than a suggestion.

One traveller writing in June 2026 arrived twenty-five minutes ahead of a 6:30pm sailing and was told the boat was going at 6:15. They got on. Half an hour of slack is what keeps that from being a story about missing the boat.

Check-in is where you show ID and sign the waiver. Cancelling inside twenty-four hours returns nothing, which is what gives those thirty minutes their weight.

You Bring Everything You Drink

BYOB is the entire model. Beer, wine, seltzer and cider are allowed aboard. Hard liquor is not.

The boat supplies the cooler, the ice, a Bluetooth system, a USCG licensed captain and a Tiki Pub entertainer. The music is the entertainer's job; the operator keeps curated playlists and tailors the selection to each cruise. The operator's booking record lists water alongside the beer and cider as something you bring, while the listing's inclusions claim bottled water is provided. Two hours on open water in Florida is a long stretch to discover which of those is right, so carry your own.

Food is not included, and the operator suggests easy snacks and appetisers over anything that needs a plate. There is a full bathroom on board with a freshwater sink. Swimming is not part of this trip; the operator keeps that for its sandbar cruise and its six-passenger private boat.

Who Gets On Board, and What You Might See

This sailing is adults only. Everyone aboard has to be eighteen or over, and the operator asks for photo ID regardless of age. The operator's own FAQ puts its ticketed evening cruises at eighteen and up, and notes that alcohol is for twenty-one and over, so an eighteen-year-old can sail on this boat without being able to drink on it.

Twenty-five people fit. The operator runs boats of six, twenty-five and twenty-eight, and this ticket is the twenty-five. Two bookings are enough to make it run and the operator settles that about an hour ahead; a sailing short of guests gets offered a reschedule or a refund. One traveller in August 2026 found nobody else had booked and had the whole pub to themselves.

Dolphins are a possibility, not the premise. Of the 150 reviews on this listing, 28 mention seeing them, usually as something the captain went out of their way to find. The listing title promises dolphins; the operator's own name for this trip is simply the Sensational Sunset Cruise, and it runs a separate dolphin cruise for people who want that to be the point.

📍 The dock sits on the mainland side of San Carlos Boulevard. Parking is ten dollars at the marina, paid on site, first come first served, and outside the ticket. The operator lists two neighbouring departure points, Joe's Dockside Marina and Excursions Marina, so check your booking confirmation for the dock named on your cruise. At either one, walk toward the Tiki Pub check-in.

Arriving from the beach without a car, one traveller recommends the trolley and getting off at the Crescent Street stop by Margaritaville.

Light rain is what the thatched roof is for. Strong wind or lightning can cancel a sailing, and a weather cancellation is refundable. Tipping is cash or Venmo and entirely yours to decide.

Two hours later you are back at the same dock with an empty cooler, a lei you will keep for a week, and a sky that puts on something different every night of the year.
