A Digital Library That Gives Web History a Home
Take a guided tour through a digital library, then follow it with ice cream.
🖥️ Web History, In Person
The San Francisco headquarters turns the saved web into a place you can walk through. Inside, the nonprofit digital library traces its work preserving web pages, media, and digital cultural artifacts, then folds that history into public events and an online archive of classic games.
Guided tours cover the organization's origin and latest initiatives, with a route that climbs to the second floor and opens onto the building's working infrastructure. Look up for the massive Wi Fi dishes on the roof, which beam internet to the surrounding neighborhood. The schedule includes a free Friday tour at 1 PM, while the headquarters is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
At 300 Funston Ave, the experience lands somewhere between a civic tour, a tech history lesson, and a curious afternoon out. The first presentation can run long, then the route continues through the building's stories and systems. The tour wraps with ice cream, giving the afternoon a cool coda.
