A Close Quarters Stage for Global Music

Catch full horn sections and solo sets in a compact South Slope bar built for loud, late-night shows.

Plan a Barbès music night.

🎷 Horns on the Rear Stage

Start with the front room at Barbès, a South Slope bar opened in May 2002 by two French expats. The relaxed bar leads to a dedicated rear stage, where bookings move through eclectic global genres and jazz adjacent styles.

One night can mean a solo set, another a full horn section packed into the compact space. That range keeps the room changing, with loud, close quarters shows that feel immediate without losing the neighborhood bar setting. Check the lineup for each night before you go, then let the music set the pace.

At 376 9th St in South Slope, Monday through Friday runs from 5 PM to 2 AM, Saturday and Sunday from 2 PM to 3 AM, and some shows are pay what you can with suggested donations of fifteen to twenty dollars. The split between front room and rear stage lets you shape the evening around one performance or a longer night.
